A Much-Loved Local, Thoughtfully Reimagined

This historic pub, long embedded in the local community, has been sensitively rejuvenated through a heritage-led bar and pub design approach that prioritises authenticity, restraint and respect for the original building fabric. Working alongside @lg.constructions, EMVY delivered a carefully considered transformation defined by minimal intervention and maximum respect—allowing the venue’s character and history to remain firmly at the forefront.

Respecting Heritage Through Considered Bar and Pub Design

The design philosophy focused on celebrating what already existed. Original materials were retained wherever possible, with salvaged timber reclaimed from site and repurposed into bespoke joinery throughout the interior. This thoughtful approach to bar and pub design preserves the warmth and patina of the original structure while subtly refreshing the space to support contemporary hospitality use.

Refined detailing, tactile finishes and a restrained material palette enhance the existing architecture rather than compete with it, ensuring the interior feels authentic, welcoming and timeless.

Interior Planning That Balances History and Function

Internally, the refreshed layout improves circulation, comfort and operational efficiency while maintaining a strong connection to the building’s past. The result is an interior that feels familiar yet elevated—an evolution of a beloved pub rather than a complete reinvention.

New Alfresco Beer Garden Design

Extending the venue beyond its original footprint, a new all-weather alfresco beer garden was introduced to support year-round dining and social interaction. Designed as a seamless continuation of the existing pub, the outdoor space features a recycled brick wall that references the site’s heritage and adds texture and visual weight.

Australian hardwood decking provides durability under heavy use while introducing warmth and natural character, reinforcing the pub’s relaxed, grounded atmosphere.

Contemporary Bar and Pub Design with Community at Its Core

Sheltered, adaptable and welcoming, the alfresco area strengthens the relationship between indoors and out, creating a vibrant new setting for community gathering. This considered project demonstrates EMVY’s approach to contemporary bar and pub design—honouring the past while ensuring longevity for an iconic local landmark.
